I read the article, and I still have no idea why someone would be smuggling sperm.
I believe it's because he wants to have kids... to fulfill the mitzvah of "Be fruitful and multiply" and all that. But last I heard, he's not allowed conjugal visits from his wife Larissa Trimbobler because their marriage isn't recognized by the Interior Ministry. So he's trying the best he can.
